Blue Shield of California has reached a settlement with the insurance regulators of California. The insurer is now going to include coverage of autism therapy in their health insurance policies. The settlement has closed the “loopholes” that made it difficult for parents of kids with autism to get their treatment covered. Autism Bill Passes California Senate

The California Senate has approved a bill that will require all health insurance companies to cover treatment for children who have an autism spectrum disorder, or other developmental disorders. The next step is to have the bill signed by Governor Jerry Brown. This will help many families be able to afford the treatment that their children need. Rhode Island Signs Autism Reform Legislation

Rhode Island Governor Lincoln Chafee has signed a law that will require health insurance companies in this state to provide coverage of the kinds of therapies that help children who have autism. This makes Rhode Island the twenty-seventh state to make this type of law. There was a bill called Senate Bill 107 that Rhode Island Governor Lincoln Chafee has now signed into law.
